AD.a has developed the design for the renovation of a residential building in the hills of San Rocco, Alassio.
The research on composition and materials lead the firm to a language inspired by the ligurian tradition, like stone walls and painted facades, while focusing on energy performance.
On a 4000 sqm intervention area, the structure is composed by 26 apartments divided into three typologies: villas with garden, panoramic apartments and penthouses.
The concept is to create an urban landscape in which experiencing of the community.
Imagine a school like a small village in which to learn the values of the "civitas" understood as citizenship, civilizations, sharing.
Combining respect for history with the new housing model: barracks / food warehouse in urban neighborhood in which to live, grow, work, learn and grow. Every design choice is oriented to urban and environmental sustainability, trying to reduce the need for residents' mobility, using resources efficiently and developing integrated and knowledge to the younger generation.
Andrea Desimone attended the Urban Regeneration Laboratory in Alessandria, proposing the Vision developed with the AD.a’s team.
The proposal have been developed with a problem in mind: Alessandria should find its identity again and should be proud of it. The basis of a strong identity is the knowledge of its own history, built upon two urban settlements across the river.
